1. Vote “No” on Prop 3 “Right to Collective Bargaining” Amendment
Prop 3 goes beyond protecting workers’ rights to collectively bargain (form or join unions).
Here are three key points you should know before casting your vote on Prop 3 on the 2026 general election ballot:
1.) Employees don’t need Prop 3 to have the right to form or join a union. The right to collectively bargain is already protected under the First Amendment’s "right to assembly” clause.
2.) Prop 3 empowers unions, not employees. Prop 3 would prevent Vermont from ever giving workers the freedom to choose whether or not to join or financially support a union without risking their job.
3.) Prop 3 will exacerbate Vermont’s affordability issues. Prop 3 would reduce the Vermont Legislature's ability to enact reforms affecting collective bargaining over compensation and benefits for public sector employees (VT-NEA and VSEA), limiting options to address rising taxpayer obligations in the future.

Keelan: 25 years after the phone call from the Twin Towers, a widow is coping By Don Keelan, Aug. 24, 2026, VtDailyChronicle
Mary was attending to her morning chores when a phone call came from a friend informing her that a plane had crashed into the WTC’S North Tower. Within minutes, Mary received a call from her husband John, who described what he was witnessing from his office window. The North Tower was engulfed in smoke and flames. Then John looked west and told Mary another plane was heading directly at his tower, just below the 95th floor. John was a senior executive at a financial firm. He and his co-executive were responsible for ensuring that, during an emergency, all employees moved to a safe location. Weeks later, the government provided her with some of John’s identifiable remains. Mary still grieves from their Manchester, VT home.

At Norwich University their 9/11 Memorial plans include having 3K flags spread about their campus for people to walk amidst and remember, reflect, and recommit to values that have held us together. At 10 pm they will have a whisper taps tribute. Perhaps you and others in your town would be interested in gathering at 5 pm at the Town Hall flagpole or cemetery, to share reflections, prayers, memories and watch the 9/11 Memorial video on cell phones. God Bless America
2Constitution Day - Sept 17
On Constitution Day, Sept. 17, federally funded businesses and institutions are required to provide Constituition education oportunities. VTHope.club/welib provides resource suggestions for all ages - use them at home, at school in community discussion groups between now at mid November. Plan to ask students and federal employees what they learned.
Sept. 17-23, celebrate our 239th Constitution Week. Play your favorite musicians - Dolly Parton, Chet Greenwood, US Naval Band and others - while you give your family, your classmates, your community members a refresher on the privileged freedoms the US Constitution and Bill of Rights have provided WE the PEOPLE. Are these really rights you want to see removed should the Communist agenda roll through Vermont? It will take prayer and unity to protect our freedoms.
